Plate math without guesswork
The plate-load helper subtracts bar weight from the target, splits the remainder across two sides, and suggests a descending plate stack. It exists so warm-up and working-set changes are faster and less error-prone — especially in busy gyms. Always confirm collar security and that both sides match before lifting.
Gym plate inventories differ. Some rooms lack 1.25 kg change plates; others use bumper plates with different diameters. If the exact stack is unavailable, round to the nearest available load and note the true weight in your log. Do not invent fractional plates that are not on the rack.
For percentage-based programs, combine this tool with the 1RM estimator: compute a working weight, then load the bar. For RPE-based days, load a planned start weight and adjust after the first work set rather than forcing a formula.
Safety reminders: face plates inward or follow gym convention consistently, use collars for dynamic lifts, and clear the area when unloading. Educational math does not replace gym etiquette or spotting on heavy presses and squats.
