Product data honesty
How Muslex handles prices, variants and SKUs
Direct answer
Muslex is currently an editorial education site, not a product catalogue. A budget phrase such as “under $500” describes a reader constraint; it is not a live offer. Profile codes on Muslex organise audiences and are not merchant SKUs.
- Live prices
- Not published without a dated merchant source.
- Muslex profile IDs
- Editorial navigation only.
- Sellable SKU requirement
- Verified unique variant data.
Why similar-looking products cost different amounts
Two products can look almost identical while differing in load range, materials, dimensions, certification, warranty, included accessories, shipping, market or seller. A responsible comparison names those differences instead of reusing one generic image and changing only the price.
What a real SKU needs
| Field | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Stable product and variant ID | Prevents two variants from being merged accidentally |
| Exact variant name | States weight, size, colour, material or pack quantity |
| Variant-specific image | Shows the actual configuration rather than a family placeholder |
| Price, currency and market | Prevents a US amount from appearing as a UK or AU offer |
| Availability timestamp | Makes clear when stock and price were checked |
| Source and image rights | Supports verification and lawful reuse |
How names and images should differ by audience
Audience pages use distinct editorial titles and scenes because their constraints differ: apartment noise, 40+ beginner confidence, 50+ label literacy, budget rack safety, night-shift adherence or travel portability. These are not claims that one commercial item was manufactured exclusively for that audience.
What Muslex will not do
- Invent a SKU, sale price, stock status, certification badge or customer review.
- Use the same product photo to imply materially different variants.
- Present generated editorial imagery as proof of hands-on product testing.
- Mark editorial buying guides as merchant listings when no purchase is available.
Future catalogue rule
If a verified feed is added, each sellable variant will receive a unique title, SKU, image, attributes, market price, availability timestamp and Product/Offer structured data. Until then, Muslex uses Article or WebPage markup that accurately represents editorial content.
