Rest-day decisions without drama

This decision tree scores simple readiness inputs — soreness quality, sleep, stress, and motivation — to bias toward train, light session, or rest. It is performance education for generally healthy adults, not injury diagnosis. Sharp pain, chest pain, fainting, or unexplained swelling are stop-and-seek-care signals outside this tool.

A rest day is usually 24–48 hours away from hard training stress. A deload is a planned lower-stress week when fatigue compounds across a block. Do not confuse missing one session with needing a full deload, and do not treat endless rest days as a substitute for fixing sleep or program volume.
